What is A Biblical Worldview and why does it matter?

Living through the lens of God's Word

In a Culture that has been compromised by satan, we certainly don’t need a Church that’s compromised and corrupted by The World. As Mario Murillo put it, “Skinny Jeans, Smoke Machines and Big-Screens” have replaced the church we grew up in. Since when did worship turn into a production and entertainment? Since when did the preaching of The Word get so watered down, it’s now a Ted-Talk for a 20 minute drive-through experience with 2 scripture verses? Why are we, at The Chapel committed to a Biblical Worldview? Because Christ and The Word of God is the only antidote and answer in a fallen world.

A Biblical Worldview is the way we understand and interpret life through the truth of God’s Word. It means looking at ourselves, other people, our circumstances, morality, purpose, and the world around us through the perspective of Scripture rather than allowing culture, personal feelings, or popular opinion to be our ultimate guide. A biblical worldview begins with the belief that God is the Creator, that His Word is true and trustworthy, and that our lives have meaning and purpose because we were created by Him.

Having a biblical worldview also means allowing Scripture to shape the way we think and make decisions. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Instead of simply asking, “What do I think?” or “What does everyone else believe?” we learn to ask, “What does God’s Word say?” This affects how we handle relationships, money, work, temptation, suffering, forgiveness, leadership, and our choices each day.

Ultimately, a biblical worldview is about seeing life through God’s eyes and living accordingly. It does not mean that we will have an answer for every question, but it gives us a solid foundation from which to understand the questions we face. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to believe God’s Word but to allow it to transform the way we think, live, and interact with the world around us, and ultimately can influence our values, thus we can be salt and light for Christ in a fallen world.
